This vehicle is a nice survivor. It had a Y block 312 with an oil leak and rotted out soft lines.
There were two oil leaks. We were able to fix the worst one which was caused by an incorrectly installed external oil pump. When the pickup tube was installed, probably by a do-it-yourselfer, they dimpled the tube at the point where it would seal where the compression fitting is. They also cut and distorted the rubber seal ring and metal compression ring. We were able to fix all of that. The second leak was in the rear main seal. The owner declined having this fixed due to the cost and it wasn’t leaking as badly since the primary leak had been repaired.
Can you believe that this vehicle had the original rubber brake hoses? They were 45 years old when the car came to us. This car should have had a catastrophic brake failure long ago!
